The term "evangelical Christian"
The name (or appellation) "evangelical Christian" designates those who are born again, that is to say born of the Spirit of God according to Romans 5:5 and 8:9.
With the help of the Holy Spirit, they believe, proclaim and practice the gospel (the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ) as presented and defined in the Bible.
The term "apostasy" means to leave the path on which one was engaged, never to return to it.
But is it possible that our spiritual communities, founded on the teaching of the Bible, can wander far from the Gospel to the point of neglecting it, redefining it, forgetting it and finally rejecting it?
Not only is this possible, but this tragedy has happened many times in the history of the Church. The second epistle to Timothy, as well as the second epistle of Peter and that of Jude speak of it clearly and in detail.
The movement called neo-evangelical was born in the middle of the twentieth century with the aim of rejuvenating the image of Christianity in order to make the Gospel credible and attractive to non-believers. None of the adherents to this approach intended to dilute or abandon the biblical message! However the spirit of accommodation to the world took them much further than they could imagine...
It is to the point that, nowadays, we are witnessing a rapid slide towards a reformulation of the Gospel and of the identity of the Christian which no longer resembles the message of the Lord and of the apostles. The booklet and brochure trace the history of the neo-evangelical movement in the United States, the United Kingdom and on the European continent. They reveal its face and its current direction. Through these documents, we propose an uncompromising return to "the faith which was transmitted to the saints once for all." (Jude 3)
Nothing can replace obedience to Christ.
Let us listen to the counsel of the Lord:"If you know these things, you are happy as long as you practice them.» (John 3:17)

Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inside they are ravenous wolves.
Matthew 7:15
My sheep hear my voice;
I know them,
and they follow me.
John 10:27

For you, beloved, uplifting you
yourselves in your most holy faith, and praying in the Holy Spirit,
keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life.
Take back some, those who dispute; save others by snatching them from the fire; and for still others, have pity mingled with fear, hating even the tunic defiled by the flesh.
Jude 20 -23

Now to him who can keep you from falling and make you appear blameless and rejoicing before his glory,
to God alone, our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, strength and power, before all time, and now, and forever! Amen!
Jude 24-25
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.
It teaches us to renounce ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live self-controlled, righteous and godly lives in this present age,
waiting for that blessed hope, and the appearing of the glory of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ
Titus 2:11-13

Martyn Lloyd Jones issued this warning: It happens that the faith is shaken in its practice, even though the principles which animate it are maintained".
Very few evangelical leaders have understood the relevance of this warning. Francis Schaeffer, he understood it well. The year Martyn Lloyd-Jones gave this message in London, Francis Schaeffer spoke at the Congress on Evangelism at Berlin:
"We, who are in the historical current of Christianity, are convinced that a false doctrine is not insignificant, and in particularly when it comes to fundamental points showing that the false doctrine is in fact heresy.
If we do not clearly affirm, both in word and in practice, our position in favor of truth as such, and against false doctrines , we will build a wall between the next generation and the Gospel".
In other words, if we did not put an end to this vast cooperation, what makes the specificity of the Gospel would be lost.
