Have you ever seen a field of sunflowers? These amazing plants can grow up to three meters tall! Their thick stem is strong enough to support the flower head, which can reach 30 cm in diameter. A field full of these bright, golden flowers seems to radiate light. But what's remarkable is that every sunflower faces in the same direction. Do you know why? It's not because the farmer used stakes during the growing process. No, it happens automatically because of a natural law called heliotropism. Before the flower begins to bloom, the stem bends and rotates the flower until it's facing the sun. This movement allows it to capture as much sunlight as possible until it's fully mature.

It is a beautiful image and a powerful example for our lives: Christians do not progress by striving to follow certain principles; they grow by turning to Jesus, the light of the world.

Sunflowers grow because they “look” toward the sun. We first look to Jesus dying on the cross because of our sins, and we are born into eternal life. Then we turn our gaze toward him daily (by praying to him and reading his Word, the Bible), and this gradually transforms us and makes us more and more like Christ… until the day when he returns, we will be like him, in a perfect way. Then “we will see him as he is” (1 John 3:2).
